Interactions between people build up tensions and lead to an awareness of ‘me’ and ‘you’. Differences and commonalities refresh our perspectives if we allow them to.
In her artistic practice, Julia reflects upon her own interactions with other people. She’s interested in discovering the foundations of actions and opinions. She observes how people influence one another, how hierarchy is being interpreted and how these notions connect to our understanding of the world.
She thinks about freedom and respect, and where the beginning and end of it all is. In that sense, she also wonders where boundaries lie, how our being intersects the other and what sharing an existence means.
The cultural definitions she grew up with are confronted with a critical eye and ear, especially if there are forces pulling the society in a specific direction.
